Gaming Apathy Disease

What's wrong with me? Target will have Wiis at 8am today and I'm just unmotivated to go buy one. It feels like, after three months, Twilight Princess is the only worthwhile game on the system, and the idea of spending $330 (TP + Wii + Component Cables) just to play one game - it feels like I could find something better to do with my time.

I'm actually tempted to trade in my DS Phat for a DS Lite and go get Final Fantasy VI... and for some reason I don't even want a 360 anymore. Holding onto Gears of War just seems like such a waste - I'd love to play it, but paying $426 (taxes and all) for a videogame system seems like such a ripoff.

How is it that a game from the SNES era is more tempting to me than the offerings of two next gen systems? I think it's just the insane cost of console gaming right now getting to me... I paid $485 for a 27'' HDTV because I got something out of it - it's great for watching movies and it makes an awesome computer monitor - I was sick of text being *tiny* - I think I may have caught some kind of ''old age induced gaming apathy disease''

Is it wrong to be completely annoyed with a generation of consoles?

As a college student, I can empathize. When you lack the time (work, studying, classes, all that nonsense) and the money for gaming, you can also lack the inclination. It feels like I enjoyed games a lot more when I was in high school. On the other hand, I'm still playing through Twilight Princess, and with every puzzle and boss battle I feel like I made a damn good purchase.

On the other hand, where'd you pick up a $485 27'' HDTV? Link plz! :)Gaming Apathy Disease

Employee discount at Best Buy over the holidays. I suppose college has to do in part with my lack of patience, or maybe it's just a general annoyance - little things that are just eating me up. I want their to be voices in Twilight Princess. I want to lay back and enjoy it. Final Fantasy VI on the DS - I can lay in bed and play that, it's wonderful because it's not so assuming as to say ''please - you need to stand in line or run all over town''

Even this forum - I type on a laptop lounging, I suppose it's the frantic pace of life. Adulthood is the suck in that way. Between the GF, the house care, the job, college... I don't know, there's not a lot of desire in me for my free time to be occupied by anything obsessive or frankly anything crappy. I like the idea of PC gaming in that I'm starting to enjoy tinkering with hardware more than gaming itself... The console market itself is really starting to bug me though, everything is too expensive for what it is, there aren't a lot of games worth buying, and the ''pretty good'' games are all too expensive to be worthwhile. I dunno, as an HDTV owner it doesn't seem like consoles have any solution that meets my needs. I almost wish there were a fourth manufacturer to jump in and say ''720p graphics, $250 bucks, now'' - sounds like a GPU to me ...

Yup, I'm only *really* interested (as in $50 to $60 interested) in 3 or 4 games on any of the consoles, so it's tough to justify the purchase. I've never been into PC gaming though (which costs a hell of a lot more no matter how you spin it). I considered getting a DS, but handheld gaming has never been my thing either (I've played through FFVI entirely too many times anyways). As for TP, I'm able to lay back and enjoy it. I knew I'd simply have to buy the Wii for four reasons besides Zelda: Super Mario Galaxy, Metroid Prime 3, Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: The Crystal Bearers, and Super Smash Bros. Brawl. I'll enjoy those games no matter how busy I am. I know the other consoles will eventually drop into my price range, so I'm not too worried about it. Best thing to do is relax, refrain from hyping games and reading about their latest status 24/7, and enjoy them when they come out.
i sort of think the same too.

I'm a Uni student and i feel the prices in this generation is getting out of hand. I'll wait for the prices to go down.

Until then, i'll be on the NDS and last generaton consoles. Having said that, the Wii does tempt me in buying it.
