Gears 2 rocks!Bunch of Great Gears 2 vids(not new but ...
Color me unimpressed. After seeing those videos it did not look like they changed the way the game was played at all besides the meat shield. While I'm gonna get flamed, Epic should at least have the decency to add something else to change they way you think about playing the game.
Don't give me the chainsaw duel stuff or the new executions either that doesn't change one bit of gameplay. Now atleast some sequels add new elements to games to change them up a bit (equipment in Halo 3). That changed how the game was played Bunch of Great Gears 2 vids(not new but ...

wait whats color me unimpressed?
It's a figure of speech, like it doesnt look good to me.
oh. well they improved on alot of things. destructo environments that can actually kill you, meatshield, much less shotgun battles because of stopping power, no host advantage, changed the grenade system completley, cyclying weapons,no more invincibility when chainsawing or executing, when you are dead you can cycles around the map freely and take pictures and get rated on them, lots of new game modes and maps, less lag, the new weapons change the gameplay a lot too, 5vs5 instead of 4vs4. and also why doesnt new executions and chainsaw duels count? they are something new and DO change the gameplay. so....thats a bunch of new things and it has more and this is only MP.

While this forum has mainly raved about graphics, I actually believe that the multiplayer changes alone in gears 2 will warrent this game a great title. Horde Mode and Meatflag will be insanely awesome.tagging grenades adds a new dimension of gore. And yes, the graphical improvements are a nice tag along.
I dunno. On one end those vids of the MP look alright, definitly fun. To be honest though I feel its a little shallow, teetering on boring. I played alot of Gears 1 with my roommate online and this doesn't really spark my interest all that much. I thought there were a few things they could've added to help pull me in more. Also, I wanna call out one of those vidswhen they said that they added 'stopping power' to make things fairer. Sure, they took care of an exploit, but then added all of this 'portable cover' which quite frankly will give similar advantages (moving forward on your opponent with little drawback). Also, how much is it gonna suck when your the meatshield. Theres no way out of it, your pretty much dead. So do I just sit there and wait? I ask this because I know one of the modes will allow mid-round spawning (a mode without it was a huge omission from the first one IMO), and if i'm stuck there as a shield waiting to get killed I know i'm gonna be pissed. And don't say ''play better noob'' or ''i'm sure it won't happen that often'' cause we both know it will happen as often as possible. Hell there could even be an exploit where you continue forward progression, throw the shield and switch to a shotgun, bringing us right back to the exploit from gears 1.

Everyone does the same thing every round on every map, race to the most powerful weapon, thn the second most, chunk grenades at the same hiding spot, etc. Its so repetitive and boring imo
Yeah I hated it when I got downed and all you can do is mash the A button, get back only to get shot again by the same guy.
when you turn into a meatshield (lol owned...jk :) ) you are considered as dead so you either just stay dead for the entire round or respawn if its a respawing game mode. and also read that new things for MP list i posted! it sounds great!
Well multiplayer for gears 2 will rock. ive hated those few uber pros that pawn everyone in the game.. and for once Horde mode gives us a chance to utilize them on our side!!I think deathmatch isnt going to be way less popular. Just killing each other isnt appealing when you can participate in more tactical gameplay like meatflag. That mode is going to be freakin wicked. Having a flag that shoot at you, dude thats insane. Can you imagine how many game dimensions just expanded because of that? You're now going to have a pro-active/reactive stand off between the teams because getting that meatflag while its down is so much more advantageous. Weapons will be less of an issue, now with stopping power, the starting weapon will be powerful enough to pick fights with 'better' weapons.
I read it, but I also saw all those MP videos too. Aside from the 'capture the flag' mode, there wasn't too much that interested me. With the exception of being able to take hostages and a portable shield (to make things simpler i'll refer to this as portable cover from now on) there isn't much that compels me to play it. What i'm trying to say that all the feelings of MP I find here I already get when I play Gears 1 MP, aside from portable cover. And that isn't a bad thing. But its not what i'm gettin gears 2 for, that task is being held up for the single player. Horde mode will be interesting to try out too, but even that. If it doesn't turn out to be as challenging as some of the old games its based off of (Smash TV), I don't think i'll enjoy it that much.
