So was MGS4 the savior ps3 needed?

Im curious I still see MGS4 bash threads from time to time, and my question is to everybody not as a fanboy but as a people, was MGS4 t a saving graceor not?I think it was big boost that was much needed by the ps3, show that the system can standon itsown 2 legs and walk comfortably, and that if devs take time [not there sweet time like kojima] can make decent games for ps3.So was MGS4 the savior ps3 needed?
yes it helped Sony/PS3 a lotSo was MGS4 the savior ps3 needed?
It's the best game this gen untill now, hands down. PS3 takes 2008.
Although I don't think the PS3 needed a ''savior'', it definately needed a defining game and MGS4 was it. My only gripe with MGS4 was the loooooooooooooong cut-scenes, my first play through, I didn't want to skip the scenes because I felt if I did, the game would be some how slapping me in the face. On an average playthrough, there was MUCH more cut-scenes than actual gameplay, but when you actually got to play, it was awesome.
no, the game was too short (if you take out the cutscenes)
I still look at the PS3 and ask: What's the point? I don't see any value over the 360.

It's the best game this generation, I can say that. And I guess you can call it the PS3's saviour. Apart from the massive rise in PS3 sales the first week, it has also helped to keep the PS3 sales consistently at a respectable level.
I keep my PS3 very safe. It don't need MGS4. ;)
MGS4 is one of many saviors to appear on PS3, LBP being another and its coming out this month! :D
Not really, but it owned ALOT of lemmings, but it helped the PS3 alot, mabey gave a few 3rd party supportLBP,gow3 are next
No, I don't think so . But I don't get the point of this thread . There's nothing wrong with my PS3 . It played GTA4, Burnout Paradise, Race Driver Grid, Soul Calibur 4 just as fine as your 360 . The only things the 360 has had this year were a few mediocre RPG's (sorry, just my opinion), Ninja Gaiden 2 (also not the next big thing) and a few interesting Arcade games like Braid and geometry Wars 2 . The PS3 had Super Stardust HD, WipeoutHD (verrrrry underrated here) and Siren Blood Curse as exclusives, so I guess this fight ends in ....a tie . Of course the 360 has its fantastic lineup from 2007 (no questioning about that, those games made the PS3 look pale back then) . However, 2008 is pointless to debate over whether the PS3 fails or blablabla . Microsoft released all its pride in 2007 in an attempt to gain market share , in which, I think it succeeded . It got a lot of PS2 fans , I think . However, it's the Wii that took over the most of the PS2 fanbase and got new market share, although not with conventional gamers . Anyway, MGS4 is the best AAAE game, and a good reason to own a PS3 .
O yea.I was sad to be missing out on this game (i own a 360) but then again i think most gamers (not fanboys) get that feeling once in a while....Still prefer the 360 though
Well I bought a PS3 originally for MGS4, FFXIII, WKS and a few other titles, so it was the first game I actually bought a PS3 for and I was blown away by it, my favorite game this gen by far.
LBP is a savior, MGS4 is not. It helped, but there's a MGS game on every Sony console, so It's not a big surprise.I'm happier with new IP's like Bioshock and LBP that just started appearing this generation.
nothing can save the PS3 at this point, the writing's on the wall
I agree that PS3 didnt need a savior, but MGS4 is still the best exclusive this gen so far

You should seriously consider getting a PS3. Metal Gear Solid 4 is friggin' amazing!
