I personally think that perception has changed. Now if it was 5 years ago, then hell yeah, thats all I heard. But gaming is cool now. And the average age of the gamer is what, 29 now? Why are there soooo many people who thin ...
It's cos video games consoles ARE toys, you play with them.
Those people are too old probably..
I've seen a show where a kid and his father were playing N64, but there was no cart in the system...
my girl friend use to think gaming was for kids then she got a psp and she got obessed with games. then i got her a ds now she has like 8 psp games and 15 ds games. when people say its for kids u can tell they have not played many games
The name video games gives it a bad wrap. They need to change the name....interactive entertainment is the way to go.

So does that mean baseball bats and footballs are toys?

Or my gf?
Most gamers are 20+ so umm.. People who say they are for kids are lost in the 80's.

[/QUOTE] Yes anything that you play is a toy and the word Game in it makes people see it as a toy sure Board games are toys and Adults play them alot, Videogames are just like Board games the way I see it because Videogames are toys but Adults can play them, My dad he still buys Hot Wheels and puts up Model Trains those are considered Toys but Alot of Adults use those things.

I see your point. But I don't feel proud putting Gears of war in the same category as a teddy bear.

when you get older and wiser you really don't care anymore.
From personal experience I can say I feel the same way. Videogames/consoles are so much more than what non gamers think...you can watch movies, listen to music , surf the net, chat with other people. However, I have found the game that stops parents from thinking of videogames just as games...Gran Turismo has captured the hearts of most of my family members ( they most think of videogames as a waste of time). I suppose the only way to change the perspective of people is by teaching them otherwise. Videogames are the future....they combine all the other forms of media into one package. Game on.

Jack Thompson would disagree...

Well they are called ''games''... If they were called ''Interactive Fiction'' or some other pretentious title they might be more respected.

I'm on to You. You're verbally burning down SW.
that sterotype is subsiding, but it is still there to a degree
